God Guides And Misguides Whom He Wills

Many people believe that God created us like puppets and He chooses one to be a believer and another as a disbeliever as if we have done nothing to deserve it.

But as a matter of fact, as recorded in Quran, it is up to us to make our own call  of our own destiny:

فمن شاء فليؤمن ومن شاء فليكفر

“So whoever wishes, let him believe and whoever wishes let him disbelieve…”

(Quran 18:29)

God gave an innate instinct to all of His creations, human life forms and others. All of the creations are instinctually in submission to the will of God. It is the purpose of their existence, to submit to the will of God, or to be ‘Muslims’. Muslim is the Arabic word to describe something or someone who submits to the will of God.

But only mankind, are endowed with conscious; moral awareness;intelligent reasoning and creativity. So that we may use our intelligence to make the choice of submitting to God. We are responsible to accept God’s guidance of revelation from our choice.

God guides us, but it is up to us to make the choice to accept to be guided or not.

“By the soul and He who created it, then inspired it to know that which is harmful to it and that which will protect it. Surely the one who purifies and nurtures their soul has succeeded while the one who corrupts it has failed.”

(Quran 91:7-10)

Life is a test. We have to be actively participate in a give and take relationship with God. The more we follow His guidance, the more God facilitates our path to Paradise. But if we are inclined toward arrogance and choose to go astray, as a result, God will facilitate our path to Hell.

“Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), And accepts the best, We will facilitate for him the easy end.

And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of God), And rejects the best, We will facilitate for him the difficult end.”

(Quran 92:5-10)

We apply the very system in our education system. The people in charge has the full authority to give scholarship to good students, and to expel stubborn students. Our education system does that, based on what the student has done. The very same system applies in business. It is either a worker gets promoted or terminated based on what he has done.

I present two verses from Quran to conclude this article:

ويهدي إليه من أناب

“And He guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).”

(Quran 13:27)

And:

“When they deviated, then God caused their hearts to deviate. God does not guide the deviant rebels.”

(Quran 61:5)
